Panasonic blu-ray firmware update

In addition to adjusting region settings, the remote control button sequence also deactivates DVD region verification, which allows most region locked DVDs to play without having to change the DVD device region, while at the same time providing the ability to adjust the DVD device region manually if required for specific RCE protection scenarios.

This is part of the normal operation! Encapsulation of advanced features within the Advanced feature collection This feature of our enhanced firmware provides a single remote control button sequence to collectively enable or disable advanced features for enhanced firmware. Apply one of the following remote control button sequences to adjust the status of the Advanced feature collection: to enable all features within the Advanced feature collection or to disable all features within the Advanced feature collection Note: The device will restart itself after each complete remote control button sequence to acknowledge sequence recognition.

Sometimes disc publishers abuse this setting to impose additional access restrictions on top of standard region locking. It did not change any of the player settings I had previously, and player system info showed firmware 1. I was hoping they'd make the Subtitle Luminance setting persistent, but it still isn't with 1. There is no "finished" message or automatic restart after the update is completed. The UB has no built-in display for status messages, and the TV displays no video during or after the update finishes.

The UB's red LED flashes signify the update's progress and when completed - a rapidly flashing LED during the update process , and a slower 3 flash sequence when complete.

I unzip the firmware download self-expanding. After powering on the UB, connecting the USB flash drive results in a reboot and rapidly flashing red LED during the update process , which takes several minutes - be patient. The UB firmware update is finished when the red LED repeats a series of 3 flashes, pause, 3 flashes.

After the 1. As noted before, not all Region locked discs work. The original post below has details and specific steps used on my player. BTW: Even with firmware 1. Problems with some Dolby Vision Discs some fixes in firmware 1. Update on v1. Not as bad as the Dolby Vision flashing with some discs before 1.

If this is an issue for you, try disabling Dolby Vision in the player's settings. Some general Dolby Vison info is here. I don't know if it matters, but my UB had firmware 1.

Earlier comments follow. I wish those posting reports included the player's firmware version, but none did. Those updates are included in our Player firmware updates listing. Cleaning the 4K disc with isopropyl alcohol. A restock with a minor dent that I flatted out with a spoon from the inside surface. When first released, I bought the standard 4K package instead. After a friend said he finally opened his 4K Quiet Place Best Buy steelbook bought years ago and the spotless he said 4K disc froze around the 4 minute mark, I had to try the 4K disc from my steelbook.

Normally these problems are not typical, and I had played my standard package 4K disc OK. I used my Sony X with firmware M Froze at the point where you're seeing the outside of the store at the start of the movie.

I had to pull the Sony X's power cord, as it wasn't responding to the remote or the player buttons. Wiped it off with a new micro-fiber cloth. A used cloth sometimes retains debris that can scratch a disc.

After having such good luck with 4K discs in the UB, I'd gotten out of the habit of cleaning 4K discs lately. In the past I've used Dawn liquid soap, this time I used isopropyl alcohol. Some 4K discs seem to have some sort of invisible film, either from the original disc mfr, or transferred from the oily residue on many plastic disc cases.

I assume this residue is either a case manufacturing mold release, or the plastic is outgassing. I want to convert it as a multi region player. Please inform method of conversion.

Changing to a multi-region player is a completely different thing and out of the scope of my site. No notices, no information just a blank screen. After 20 minutes of waiting for something to happen, I gave up. I powered it off from the mains and powered on but it froze with error message — W OPE.

I called Panasonic. They told me to switch it on and leave it for a few day it may work. It was playing perfectly well before the firmware upgrade and playing all my discs, but not anymore. I would strongly suggest that you call Panasonic customer service, Teresa, and tell them what happened. I bought a Panasonic Blu-Ray player in December I have used it to play movies a few times only and it worked just fine. Yesterday, I connected my blu-Ray player to the wifi and did the update.

It has not been powered off, the screen is blue, and has been this way for over 12 hours now. I have not seen a message indicating the update has finished. The player will not power off from the remote nor manually and none of the functions on the remote seem to work, except being able to switch the input to cable.

The player was working fine before the attempted update. Should I unplug it and hope for the best? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! I just hooked mine to our wifi and it alerted me of an update that was needed. I allowed it and now mine is doing the exact same thing with the blue screen and everything else. I never even messed with it while it was updating. Did you ever figure out what was wrong with yours? Thanks, Dave.

Great walk through. Great screen shots and explanations! Update was success thanks to you. Another weird thing is when i clicked on the update button it says cannot connect but after i go into network and test it the update can connect then.

Not all people have fast internet speeds where the update is a minute or two……These updates for me are more like an hour or more to complete…. Thanks Panasonic! I am so frustrated! It killed my Blu-ray player. My player worked just fine before I inserted the disk that I got from Panasonic. Panasonic wont do anything about the fact that they broke my player. Hi Dave, Thanks for the walk through on the firmware update.

I finally had the usual thought;this device like everything else might need a reboot. I disconnected the power cord reconnected and of course the menu appeared. The player is not connected to the internet and I am a novice when it comes to burning discs, etc. Thanks a lot! I hope this helps so I can play the new blu ray discs without it stopping part way through.

Your instructions, and photos helped this technically-challenged lassie figure it out.
